The Management Structure of the Society comprises a governing Board of Directors, currently nine in total, carrying commercial and professional skills and experience. They serve to ensure best practice and procedure in implementing the Society’s aims and objectives, and in liaising with the general membership.
Each director has specific responsibilities, which cover management, finance, personnel, property, health & safety, and membership.
The original Constitution dated back to 1790 and conferred no legal status to the Society and was proving inadequate for present day situations.
The updated Constitution was produced to conform to the new legal form for registered Scottish charities as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).
The new Constitution was approved at the AGM of the Society on 21 June 2013 and subsequently formal approval of the change in status to a SCIO was granted by OSCAR by letter of 3 July 2014.
For the year to 3131 January 2017
The legal status of the Society to 2 July 2014 was that of an Unincorporated Scottish Charity.
From 3 July 2014, with the approval of OSCAR, the legal status of the Society was changed to that of a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).
There being no change in the operation structure of the Society, all assets were formally transferred to the new SCIO on 3 July 2014.
