Tales of the Riverman 3

I drink Lipton’s Tea, I like Lipton’s Tea, I have a “directors” chair with Lipton’s Tea on it. I like the story of the man who was born and brought up in the Gorbals (The family lived in a four room tenement at 10 Crown Street, Hutchesontown ) opposite Glasgow Green and who used to come down to the Park and sit with the “Cronies” at the Glasgow Humane Society boathouse and learn about boat building and boat handling...

Tales of the Riverman 2

During the past few years schoolboys from the rowing clubs have carried out tasks at the Glasgow Humane Society towards their Bronze Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Pupils from Hutchesons’ Grammar School, St Aloysius College and Glasgow Academy have assisted GHS with community work, maintenance and safety work as part of their ‘Volunteering’ aspect of the D of E Award scheme.
