Officer Tony Coia
At a young age Tony remembers asking his father who the man in the boat rescuing persons from flooded vehicles in Springburn was.
Some time later after years of life saving training Tony was finally introduced to George Parsonage by a friend who was in the Strathclyde Police Underwater Unit. By this time Tony had made a career in Lifeguarding and is a trainer assessor with Culture & Sport Glasgow.
While still (always) learning and taking new courses, Tony is now in the position to organise and run other courses for the Society. Tony is a veteran of many rescues and recoveries on the river and is heavily involved with Councils and other parties in promoting safety.
Tony has been awarded various honours including:
2008 - Certificate of Thanks Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth Council
