We need baths to get city in swim (Comment of the day)
I hope Govanhill Baths are reopened. I had many a good time there especially with school swimming.
Glasgow has a proud record where swimming pools are concerned and at one time every (or nearly every) primary school in Govan boasted a swimming Pool.
To prevent drownings in open waters Glasgow built the first baths at the Green head (at Glasgow Green) and the City has since gone on from strength to strength.
I do wonder, however, what is to happen to Whitevale Baths. These once packed swimming Pools, Turkish Baths, Steam Baths, Steamie are now lying derelict.
Also lying unused are Church Street Baths in Byres Road. How many other fine old swimming Pools are lying unused around the City?
The more we have the better, letting people swim in safety.
